My First Post!

So I decided to start a blog! I've always wanted to, but thought to myself - I've got nothing super exciting going on. I don't have any kids to show off, and I live in a very small city that doesn't have much happening. We have maybe 5 decent places to eat at - RIP Cilantros. So the food blog was out.

So a quick recap on to why this is being created. Let me go back to July 2009. I met Greg in Huntington, he was a med student at MU. I still had friends there, so I would go down to visit when I could. We met at The Union, and it's been great ever since. Couldn't have met anyone better than him. Just to add, nice people go to the bars too.

Fast forward to March 17th, 2011. St. Patricks Day had a whole different meaning for us. It was also match day where the 4th year students find out where they will be doing their residency. I waited for his text to tell me where our future was heading. It was a very nerve racking day, but I'm sure it was worse for him. At exactly noon, he wrote "Pack your Mardi Gras beads, we're going to LSU!".  So that weekend when we were coming home from Gatlinburg, I told him I think we should start a blog about our new adventure in New Orleans. Show our family and friends what all is there. We both agreed that we are going to take advantage of all the great things the city has to offer. Hopefully entice people to want to come down. He liked the idea, so here we are!

Off subject from the move, April 8th he proposed with his grandmothers beautiful ring! I was so honored, and couldn't be more excited for anything more in my entire life. To throw me off, he got the idea from his grandfather to ask me on HIS (Greg's) birthday. I just wanted to put that in :) Anywho...

Last weekend we went down to find a place to live. Let me tell you it wasn't the best 48 hours. Living in a place that has a high crime rate, and wanting to find the right neighborhood was a challenge. Due to the weather we lost a day of searching. We both couldn't agree on what we wanted, and we really just wanted to give up. Finally this guy wrote us back Saturday morning, and we went to look at this place immediately before we signed a lease to this other one. We really didn't feel comfortable leaving without finding a place to live. Turns out it was everything we both wanted. A part of me wanted to stay in a complex due to my safety, but a part of me wanted to stay in a neighborhood to get the feeling of living there. Greg also really wanted to live somewhere he could ride his bike to work. So this place was just perfect. Great size for a couple, and it has that NOLA charm I desperately wanted to find. We both fell in love with it, and paid the May rent even though we aren't even there. We didn't want to lose this place. We can't wait for our family and friends to come down and visit, see this amazing city, and show ya'll that southern hospitality. So here is our new apartment! I can't wait to decorate!!!!!

Here is the living room. It has a stained glass window!

Bedroom. Love the mantal.

Kitchen is a great size. I just got to find the motivation to want to use it :)

Off the kitchen we have a sunroom porch. Can't wait to put some plants out there.

So this is our new place! I can't wait to show pictures of when we're done decorating. Remember, we really love visitors.
